It a year today since the formal incorporation of HANDI Health CIC and a few weeks more since we first announced our plans.

In our first we have achieved a great deal:

  • Nearly 1000 members in our network from all segments of the community
  • Well over a 1000 followers on Twitter
  • An expanding web presence
  • 5 regional groups with 5 more in the planning
  • Our first sponsors and some Government funding
  • Active cooperation with many organizations including:
    • NHS Commissioning Board
    • Cabinet Office
    • Health and Social Care Information Centre
    • Many universities
    • London Connect
    • Intellect – (the Industry Trade Association)

Our Challenge for the rest 0f 2013 is to continue to build our network and web presence. We have announced a series of free regional workshops support by the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network. These workshops will also be available to view online and will result in White Papers covering subject of importance to the App Community.

We will also shortly be announcing plans for a major national conference and some exciting app challenges will provide the opportunity for developers to compete for support to develop their app or idea.

HANDI is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company and to take our work forward we need support from those who find value in it. The next few months will see a major drive for sponsorship and if HANDI is to survive an flourish we need your support – Please Help

HANDI has just completed three initial launch events and is three months old today so this seem a good time to update you on progress and future plans.

We have now got just under 550 people registered with HANDI of which about 210 attended one of our workshops.

Follow-up meetings are already taking place in our NE Cluster and plans are advancing fast for our London and Midlands clusters. Were keen to identify people who would like to take an active role in the steering groups for each cluster and If your able to help please get in touch., or Things have been very hectic and it you have already expressed an interest using any other channel it would be helpful if you could do so again using the relevant email above.

We have added a discussion forum to the web site and are keen to get conversations running on this. You can use it to ask questions or make comments about anything to do with health and care apps or HANDI and can also use it to publicise your apps - Click Here

As you know HANDI is a not-for-profit community interest company and we have got this far on generous support in cash and kind from a small number of our supporters. We need to raise further funds and are looking for organisations willing to become founding sponsors with an initial donation of at least £1,000 If you are interested please get in touch  and we can explain what we can offer in return.

Future plans include a series of further workshops in the autumn to launch new clusters in West Yorkshire, Scotland and Wales with a programme of activities around these and our existing clusters as well as additional facilities on our web site. We want to address those issues that are a priority to you, so please use the discussion forum to tell us want you want, but we can only deliver if you and other members are willing to work with us to help make things happen.

For the last couple of weeks we have been proceeding with a soft launch of HANDI ahead of a formal launch once we have HANDI registered as a CIC. This has involved letting small numbers of people know what we are up to so we could gauge the initial response. Today we started promoting HANDI to a wider group and have been amazed by the response with supportive email flooding in a web site registrations climbing fast.

If you have responded to this publicity but not registered on the web site please click here to do so. If you have emailed us with something that needs a personal reply please be patient while we plough through the emails, but if you don’t get a response within a week please chase us – We could easily miss something in the blizzard of responses.

Thanks for your support – More soon.
